A little preparation makes the appointment faster and helps the carpet come out its best. Here's a quick checklist for residential and small commercial jobs.
The Day Before
- Light vacuum the rooms being cleaned
- Clear small breakables, décor and floor toys from the carpet
- Note any stains or problem spots you want addressed
- Confirm parking or vehicle access at the property
Just Before Arrival
- Secure pets in a separate room
- Point out spots, stains and odor areas during the walk-through
- Ask about anything unusual — old repair patches, delicate fibers, wool areas
During the Appointment
- Keep pets and children clear of the cleaning zone
- Cross a doorway carefully if moving between wet and dry areas
- Turn on ceiling fans and HVAC circulation to help drying
After the Appointment
- Wait until carpet is fully dry before returning furniture
- Use protective pads under wood or metal furniture legs
